Middle School Program Overview

Middle school is a time of academic growth, increased independence, and deeper exploration of core subjects. Our personalized learning approach ensures that students receive instruction that allows them to build on their strengths and address areas for growth at their own pace.

As students transition from primary school, social studies and science become more rigorous, emphasizing critical thinking, analytical skills, and inquiry-based learning. Students engage with historical analysis, research projects, scientific investigations, and real-world problem-solving to prepare for the demands of high school coursework.

English Language Arts

The ELA program immerses students in content-rich literature, fostering critical thinking, meaningful discussions, and strong communication skills. Through engaging with fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and informational texts, students analyze author’s craft, literary devices, and text structure while refining their writing through research-based assignments. Emphasizing both creativity and analytical skills, the program helps students develop a strong voice in their writing.

With a focus on social-emotional learning, students make personal connections, build empathy, and develop confidence as independent thinkers and writers.

Math

Our program meets students where they are, offering regular, accelerated, and advanced pathways to support diverse learning needs. With a balanced focus on conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real-world application, students develop critical thinking and mathematical reasoning for success in high school and beyond.

Accelerated and advanced pathways move at a faster pace, covering complex concepts to prepare students for higher-level coursework. For those needing additional support, we integrate social-emotional learning and perseverance strategies to build confidence and resilience in math.

Social Studies

Our inquiry-based program fosters critical thinking, historical awareness, and global perspectives through primary sources, historical narratives, and evidence-based writing.

In 6th and 7th grade, students explore ancient and medieval civilizations, analyzing cultural exchanges, political and economic systems, and the connections between historical events and world geography. By 8th grade, the focus shifts to U.S. history, tracing the nation’s development from early exploration and colonization to expansion, conflict, and reform. Through analysis and argumentation, students strengthen their critical thinking and writing skills, preparing them to be informed, responsible citizens.

Science

Our science program engages students through interactive digital tools, virtual labs, and hands-on experiments. Through inquiry-based learning, students explore scientific phenomena, develop problem-solving skills, and apply real-world reasoning.

Students progress through core scientific disciplines, beginning with Earth Science in 6th grade, where they study geology, weather, and space systems. In 7th grade, Life Science introduces concepts of biology, ecosystems, and genetics, while 8th grade Physical Science focuses on chemistry, physics, and energy. With dynamic simulations and data-driven investigations, students build a strong foundation in science while fostering curiosity and critical thinking.

Middle School Sample Schedule

Middle school students receive individualized, live instruction that adapts to their learning needs. Core subjects meet 3-5 days per week, allowing for consistent teacher guidance, in-depth exploration of concepts, and personalized support. Electives meet twice per week, providing opportunities for enrichment and skill development beyond core academics.

Each 40-minute, one-on-one session is tailored to the student’s pace, strengths, and areas for growth, ensuring they receive direct instruction, real-time feedback, and targeted skill-building.

Beyond scheduled classes, weekly office hours offer additional opportunities for academic reinforcement, assignment guidance, and social-emotional support, helping students develop confidence and independence as they prepare for high school.
